Watch: Contestants Sing, Dance & Crack Wise At VGC Idol

Clients of Deepwood's Vocational Guidance Center take part in fourth annual talent competition

It's not just a talent competition to the people in it, said Joan Frania.

Frania helped organize the Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities' , which was held Tuesday afternoon.

Nine clients sang ABBA and Tina Turner, danced and even performed comedy routines -- all in hopes of becoming the 2012 VGC Idol.

And, while the contest was held at the Vocational Guidance Center as opposed to a Hollywood soundstage, the contestants feel as if they're on TV, Frania said.

"They are stars so we treat them like stars," Frania said.

The competitors even enjoyed a limo trip to the VGC as part of their star treatment.

The three top performers will compete at Deepwood Idol, which will be March 31 at .

"I think this event is special because it shows what they can do, as opposed to what they can't do," Frania said.
