Lake Metroparks is hosting family events at the Farmpark and Penitentiary Glen; James A. Garfield National Historic Site is also free

Parents who need something to do with their kids on Martin Luther King Jr. Day have a trio of options from Lake Metroparks and the National Park Service.

Kids can learn about life on the farm during Farmpark's Discovery Day, including cow milking, roping, making ice cream and stone soup, meeting newborn calves, piglets and sheep, and more.

Children can also snowshoe, if weather permits, and decorate cookies.
