Slideshow: Mentor Public Library Throws Harry Potter Party

To celebrate the release of 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2,' the library threw a Potter-themed party

threw a party Thursday to celebrate the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

Kids dressed as their favorite characters from the Potter-verse, made their own wands, concocted potions and sampled butterbeer. (Don't worry, parents. The butterbeer had creme soda, butterscotch and whipped cream, but no beer.)

Kids could also get a closer look at some of the creatures thatmade the Harry Potter books and movies so memorable.

Lake Metroparks will brought their own owl, like Hedwig, who carries letters for Potter, and the Northern Ohio Association of Herpetologists had all sorts of snakes that a Slytherin would love. Also, an entomologist from Case Western Reserve University brought a menagerie of insects, similar to the creepy-crawlies that inspired some of J.K. Rowling's monsters.
