Route 2, Center Street Road Projects Delayed

A trio of state and city road projects have been slowed by circumstances, including weather and soil

The Ohio Department of Transportation initially hoped the Route 2 lane addition would be finished by this October.

That's not going to happen.

Similarly, ODOT had hoped to finish the ramp work for Center Street entrance to Route 2 by this weekend.

You guessed it – not happening.

The reasons for these delays are varied. ODOT previously said

Now, it seems a soil condition is also slowing the Route 2 widening, according to a story in The News-Herald.

The revised date for completion is July 2013, though that has not been approved by ODOT, The News-Herald said. For now, Buckeye Traffic still lists the tentative completion date as Oct. 15.

Meanwhile, the delay for completion of the Center Street ramp project seems to be less dramatic.

Mentor City Manager Ken Filipiak said the job is still expected to be finished this fall.

Finally, the looks like it will be delayed between three and four months.

Filipiak said crews need to relocate an electrical line in the easement before they can begin.
