Patch Picks: St. Patrick's Day

Everyone's Irish this weekend but all Irish need not celebrate the same way. We have St. Patrick's events for kids, the devout and, yes, those who enjoy a wee bit o' alcohol

Did somebody say St. Patrick's Day?

Yes, yes – green beer; Guinness; Jameson Irish whiskey – we know how many will choose to celebrate, but there are options besides that.

  • is hosting its ninth annual Celebrity Servers event today. () Local officials will serve as waiters and provide guests with an appropriately Irish feast of corned beef brisket, potatoes, carrots and cabbage. Then they will entertain them with Irish jigs, serenade them and do whatever else it takes to earn tips for the United Way of Lake County. The luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at the .   • Kids from kindergarten to fourth grade can celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a treasure hunt and crafts 3:45 p.m. today at . Participation is free but you need to register.
