Young Residents Show That 'Mentor's Got Talent'

The venue change couldn't stop nine youngsters from living up to the talent show's name.

From Origami to Bruno Mars and Etta James renditions, "Mentor's Got Talent" featured a little of everything.

The show was moved from the Civic Center Amphitheater to the Mentor Civic Arena due to the threat of storms Wednesday morning, but nine youngsters provided a variety of entertainment to a crowd full of Mentor day campers.

Vince Mobily showed off a few yo-yo tricks, while six-year-old Nora Tulenson wowed the crowd with a violin routine. Two sets of sisters provided individual performances, with three of the four girls claiming the top three prizes — gift cards provided by Walmart. Sisters Casey and Sadie Sloop won the $15 and $30 cards, respectively.

Kayla Stovall, 14, came out on top after singing Etta James' "At Last." She was rewarded a $50 gift card. She pleased her parents when she announced that she would likely spend the money on back-to-school clothes.

Her sister, 9-year-old Emma, who performed Bruno Mars' "When I was Your Man," told her she should also deserved some of the clothes.

"I feel like I should share my talent with the world," Kayla said.
