NEOMoM Helps Mothers of Multiple Births

Northeast Ohio Mothers of Multiples helps moms who face the unusual blessing of twins, triplets and even quadruplets

Being a mom means juggling a lot of responsibilities, but the mothers of twins or triplets have even more balls in the air.

As Heide Brooker puts it, "To use a sports analogy, you are always playing zone defense (as opposed to) one-on-one."

Brooker is a second vice president of membership for Northeast Ohio Mothers of Multiples, a group that supports and educates mothers with multiple births.

"It is great to ask questions from those who 'have been there' and get ideas, share triumphs and challenges and just laugh about how crazy life can be with twins, triples or quads," Brooker said.

NEOMoM has 70 members and 15 guests from Lake, Geauga and eastern Cuyahoga counties.

It also has a special mentoring program for mothers of multiples –  MoMs, for short –  with infants. Women who are pregnant and expecting multiple births can also join the group or attend meetings as guests until the children are born.

NEOMoM meets 6:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of every month at in Mentor. They also have play groups, adult socials, as well as other events throughout the month and a very active e-mail group with daily discussions.

If a mother is interested in joining or learning more about NEOMoM, they can visit www.neomom.org or e-mal neomomclub@gmail.com. NEOMoM is a member of the Ohio Federation of Mothers of Twins Clubs and National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs.
