Mentor Public Library Is Throwing a Harry Potter Party

The library will celebrate the release of the last Harry Potter film by throwing a party in honor of the boy wizard

As you will likely hear a lot this week, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, the final movie of the series, is debuting this Friday.

Mentor Public Library will celebrate the premiere with a Harry Potter Party 6:30 p.m. at .

Kids, parents and anybody else who loves the boy who lived can come to the party dressed as their favorite character.

The party will have crafts and games for the children, as well as butterbeer on tap. (Don't worry, parents. Butterbeer is a kid-safe drink.)

People will also get to mix their own magical potions.

As part of the party, the library will feature some of the creatures that have made the Harry Potter books and movies so memorable.

Lake Metroparks will bring their own owl, like Hedwig who carries letters for Potter, and thee Northern Ohio Association of Herpetologists will also have reptiles for the kids to see. Here's hoping they leave the basilisk at home. An entomologist from Case Western Reserve University will bring a menagerie of insects, similar to the creepy-crawlies that inspired some of J.K. Rowling's monsters.

Librarians ask that people register for the party so they can have an approximate head count beforehand. One can do that by calling 440-255-8811 ext. 221.
