Mentor Farmers Market Season Begins at Civic Center

The farmers market runs each Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. through Sept. 6.

Produce, baked goods, ice cream, music and art are sure to become weekly staples in Mentor, and it all began on Friday.

The city kicked off a new season of its farmers market in a new location — the Civic Center parking lot. The first installment of the market featured nearly 40 vendors. Mentor Recreation Coordinator Marcey Bryant expects that the majority of those vendors will be back every week.

"We're so totally pleased with the result," Bryant said. "Moving from another location, you never know what to expect."

While vendors like True Earth Farms and Cormack's Market Garden are expected to be mainstays each week, residents and visitors can expect a few bonuses on the last Friday of each month. On "Final Fridays," face painters, balloon artists and musicians also provide entertainment in the parking lot.

The farmers market runs through Sept. 6.
