Meet this Week's Whiz Kids: The St. Mary's High School Girls' CYO Basketball Team

• Whiz Kids' Names: Ellie Kohl, Bailey Sharitts, Kaitlin Shannon, Anne Farrell, Laura Timperio, Sarah Mormino and Megan Kramer
• Whiz Kids' Schools: Kohl, Sharitts, Shannon and Farrell go to , Timperio and Mormino attend Kirtland High School, and Kramer attends Gilmour Academy
• Whiz Kids' Accomplishment: The high school girls' CYO basketball team won the city championship by defeating St. Rita of Solon 50-38 on March 6. They will compete in the state CYO tournament March 19 and 20 in Sydney, OH.
• Whiz Kids' Key to Awesomeness: The girls on this team are hardworking, unselfish and have a genuine friendship toward one another, said Gary Kohl, one of their coaches.

"It's truly a 'team' concept," he said.

Moreover, because of an injury to one player and a prior family commitment for another, the St. Mary girls played the entire championship game with just five players. No substitutes, no excuses, just teamwork and good basketball.
