Jazz, Weaving & Fish Fries: A Weekend Planner

There's too much to do this weekend to stay stuck at home

Where/When: Lakeland Community College, Friday through Sunday

Why Go: Two-time Grammy Award-winning jazz fusion group Yellowjackets headline the 40th Annual Lakeland Jazz Festival. The festival will also feature bassist Dave Morgan along with an ensemble of top jazz artists on Friday and the Lakeland Civic Jazz Orchestra with the Dave Banks Big Band on Sunday.

The event is also a highlight for the jazz education community in Northeast Ohio and features area middle school, high school and college jazz ensembles.

All performances are held in the Lakeland Performing Arts Center, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland.

Where/When: Great Lakes Mall, Saturday and Sunday

Why Go: Local businesses will showcase their products and services to the community during regular mall hours. Learn about local businesses and support them.

Pricing: Free. Just go to the mall.

Where/When: , Friday through Sunday

Why Go: Amateur and professional weavers from all over the United States will spend the weekend weaving, designing and learning. Basket weaving demonstrations will be open to the public from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 26.

Pricing: Prices vary per class but Sunday's demonstration is free.

Where/When: , 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday

Why Go: Come enjoy the Synchronized Skating exhibition. This event features skating from 30 teams from around the region who participate in this 1-day event.

Where/When: Knights of Columbus #947 headquarters at 987 Mentor Ave, Painesville, 4 p.m. Friday

Why Go: Lenten season means fish on Fridays. Enjoy Lake Erie perch, cole slaw, fries and more.
