Have You Seen or Survived A Tornado?

Patch explores the last time a tornado touched down in Lake County after severe weather warnings on Wednesday.

While the severe weather in Mentor on Wednesday wasn’t as dramatic as it was elsewhere, four tornadoes touched down in Ohio in Ashtabula, Huron, Sandusky, and Tuscarawas counties. As I waited the rain out, I wondered when the last time a tornado touched down in Lake County.

According to the Tornado History Project, two tornadoes have touched down in Lake County since 1969, most recently in August 2000.

The first one, in July, 1969, caused 40 injuries, while the one in 2000 caused none.
