FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

KIRTLAND KIWANIS STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL

Where/When: Kirtland High School, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Why Go: Strawberry shortcake eating contest. Need I say more? OK, just in case, there’s carnival food and games, rides, music, a flea market, parade and Miss Kirtland Contest.

Where/When: , noon to 2 p.m. Friday.

Why Go: Mascots from area businesses will be on hand to help celebrate the start of the Library’s summer reading program, “One World, Many Stories.”

FIREMAN’S ROUNDUP

Where/When: Old Firehouse Winery, Geneva-on-the-Lake, noon to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Why Go: Fireman games, entertainment and a parade are on the agenda.

Pricing: Free.

GNOME AND GARDEN

Where/When: Holden Arboretum, starts Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Runs through Sept. 25.

Why Go: Family friendly activities such as children’s crafts, music and a gnome parade help kick off this exhibit. Can you find the 20 5-foot garden gnomes hidden throughout the gardens?

Pricing: Members and children 5 and under are free. Nonmembers are $6, those 60 and over are $5, and children 6-12 are $3.
