Where/When: Painesville Recreation Park, 6:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Thursday.

Why Go: Kids ages 8 and older (and their parents) can participate in this group, which is held twice a month through September. This week’s topic is casting and fishing.
Pricing: $48 per family for the entire summer, but a prorated fee might apply.

• FAIRPORT HARBOR LIGHTHOUSE OPENING WEEKEND
Where/When: Fairport Harbor Lighthouse & Marine Museum, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday through Monday.
Why Go: Immerse your kids in two centuries of maritime artifacts and local history. The grounds are open to explore and lighthouse tours are available by appointment.
Pricing: $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, $2 kids ages 6-12. Children under 6, members and active military are free.
Where/When: Holden Arboretum, 10 a.m. Saturday.
Why Go: Paddle on down the calm upper Cuyahoga River near Burton through extensive wetlands and bottomland forests. Must be age 12 or older for this 3-mile trip.
Pricing: $35 for members, $45 for nonmembers. Includes naturalist guide, canoe rental, life jackets and paddles.
Where/When: Classic Park in Eastlake, various times.
Why Go: It’s a weekend full of baseball and fun: Friday and Saturday there’s fireworks and Sunday and Monday are Family Fun Days with a player autograph session, inflatable games, entertainment and a post-game kids' base run.
Pricing: Tickets start at $8.

Why Go: Take part in this solemn processional to remember those who have died in our nation’s service.
