Flood Watch Issued In Mentor

The National Weather Service is also warning of minor flooding along the Grand River in Painesville

The National Weather Service's Cleveland office has issued a flood watch for Lake County until 7 p.m. today.

Meteorologists warn that recent rainfall may have saturated the ground, which means any additional rain will take longer to drain than usual.

The forecast calls for as much as another half inch of rain throughout Tuesday evening and night with snow following Wednesday.

Additionally, a flood warning is in effect for the Grand River in Painesville. The river's flood stage is eight feet and waters were at 7.7 feet as of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The river is expected to rise as high as 8.6 feet by Wednesday morning. At 8.5 feet, the water reaches Vrooman Road and floods the Lake Metroparks property along the river.
