Butterfly Bonanza Hike at Mentor Marsh

Despite this dry weather, one good thing persists at Mentor Marsh this summer-butterflies! Join a Mentor Marsh Naturalist and guest butterfly expert on our Sunday hike to learn more about butterflies and providing habitat for them.

Mentor Marsh Sunday hikes are offered every Sunday, April-October from 2-3:30 p.m. and begin at the Mentor Marsh Nature Center at 5185 Corduroy Road, Mentor.

On Sunday, August 19, we will be “Scouting for Butterflies in the Marsh”. Join local butterfly enthusiast, Mary Ann Wagner for a butterfly hike at Mentor Marsh. Starting at
the Mentor Marsh Nature Center, we will view native plantings designed to attract butterflies and other pollinators and will explore the connection of providing nectar and host plants for these winged critters.
Restored areas in the Marsh also provide ample nectar and host plants, so we will venture out to the Wake Robin Trail’s boardwalk looking for butterflies, too. On our way, we will scout for both butterflies and caterpillars and tag
monarchs along the way. Registered participants will receive butterfly identification materials.
