Dogs Make Good Listeners at Mentor Public Library Program

Paws to Read gives children a chance to work on their public reading skills while trained therapy dogs give a listen.

The Mentor Public Library's recent Paws to Read program gave therapy dogs a chance to relax as children, ages six to 12, got a chance to work on their public reading skills.

Children read to the licensed therapy dogs for 30 minutes, according to the library. The dogs are described as gentle and have received training to be good listeners.

Twelve children participated in the September session. The next one is scheduled for Oct. 16 at the Mentor-on-the-Lake branch. Registration begins Oct. 2.
