Best Places to Watch Fireworks Tonight in Mentor

Don't get caught somewhere without a view tonight

The city of Mentor will have its annual fireworks show from 9:50 to 10:20 p.m. today at Mentor High School.

However, you may be out of luck if you wait too long to find a decent seat.

While some stake out a fireworks-watching spot as early as 2 p.m., that's hardly necessary, Mentor Parks program director Jill Korsok said. Korsok said most prime locations don't start filling up until after 7 p.m.

: The recent Bites Nearby subject has a direct line of vision from Market Street. Moreover, you can get some good grub while you wait.

Laketran parking lot on Market Street: The view is similar to the one from the Branding Iron. It doesn't tend to fill up as quickly as other more popular locations.

: This entire complex offers a pretty good view of the action as long as you don't get stuck behind a tree or a tall guy in a top hat. If you don't want to fight for a spot of lawn, you could always retreat to the parking.

: Admittedly, this suggestion is a bit obvious. However, we have it on good authority that the baseball fields offer an especially good lawn.

: This location boasts two benefits. One, you'll be able to see the show clearly. Two, you'll have a lot easier time trying to get home than if you parked at the Civic Center complex.

Munson Road, between Hopkins Road and Civic Center Boulevard, will be closed from 9 p.m. until 11 p.m. due to the fireworks.

The northbound lanes of Center Street at Tyler Boulevard will also be closed from approximately 10:15 p.m. until about 11:45 p.m. to assist with the traffic leaving the event.

Some other turns and accesses at key intersections may also be limited in order to expedite the flow of traffic.
