'American Ride' Films Episode in Mentor

The cable TV show filmed an episode for the upcoming season at the James A. Garfield National Historic Site.

A cable TV show chronicling the American history made a stop in Mentor this past weekend.

American Ride filmed an episode at the James A. Garfield National Historic Site  on Saturday as part of its upcoming fifth season, scheduled to hit BYUtv this fall. The channel, owned by Brigham Young University, is available on AT&T U-Verse, DirecTV and Dish Network.

The show is hosted by Stan Ellsworth, a 6'2, 300-pound former football player, coach, history teacher and Harley Davidson enthusiast with a no-nonsense attitude toward educating viewers on the triumphs of the nation's founding fathers. The Garfield episode is one of several that will examine the post-Reconstruction United States.

Filming continues throughout the summer in other locations like New Orleans, Chicago, Paris, Detroit and Washington. Topics include the stock market crash of 1929, World War I and the Civil Rights Movement.

Check out the photos of Ellsworth at the Garfield site and a trailer for the upcoming season, supplied by American Ride.
