Despite this dry weather, one things persists at Mentor Marsh this summer-phragmites! Join Mentor Marsh Naturalists on our Sunday hike to learn
more about the natural history of this invasive plant.

Mentor Marsh Sunday hikes are offered every Sunday, April-October from 2-3:30 p.m. and begin at the Mentor Marsh Nature Center at 5185 Corduroy Road, Mentor.

On Sunday, August 12, we will explore Phragmites, “The Alien Grass Among Us” that is the dominant plant in Mentor Marsh and other local wetlands. Learn about the towering reed grass-Phragmites at this program. Does any wildlife use it? Are there any other uses of this plant? How can it be controlled? Our hike will take us on the Wake Robin Trail’s boardwalk to get a close up view of this invasive plant and view results of stewardship work at Mentor Marsh.

Mentor Marsh Nature Center programs are family friendly and all are invited. Activities will be held rain or shine and will only be cancelled in the event of severe weather. Reservations are requested for all programs. For questions or to make a reservation, please contact the Mentor Marsh Nature Center at 440-257-0777 or rdonalds@cmnh.org.
