The first Greater Cleveland XC Festival hosted by Second Sole of Mentor will be on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Eleanor B. Garfield Park. There will be three races open to all ages. A one mile kids race at 8:00am, a 5k men's race at 8:20 am, and a women's race at 9:00 am. A nice pancake breakfast and awards for all age divisions will follow after. This is a special event because there will be separate men's race and women's race. Now you will be able to cheer on a loved one or see how you compare to others in your division in a true cross country race. These races are more like a grassy trail race than a road race so feel free to wear spikes, trail or regular running shoes. The Greater Cleveland XC Festival is proud to be sponsored by New Balance. Awards go to the top three overall Men and Women-(Cash Awards) and top three in each age division will also receive an award.
Age divisions are seperated by Men and Women 14 & under,15-19, 20-24, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.

More About Eleanor B. Garfield Park
Eleanor B. Garfield Park was dedicated in 1980 to honor Garfield, a former mayor of Mentor. It stretches across 65 acres, including a pond and hiking trail. Visitors can play on the basketball and tennis courts, soccer field and baseball diamond. During the summer months, people can also swim in the community pool, complete with a pair of water slides. The park also has a pavilion, which can be rented, and concessions and restroom in he community recreation center.
