Watch: New Mentor Schools Superintendent Introduces Himself
Mentor Schools Board of Education Voted Matt Miller as their next superintendent during a special meeting Monday
The new Mentor Schools superintendent, Matt Miller, introduced himself during a special board meeting Monday evening at the district's administration building.
Before Miller addressed the employees who attended the meeting to see him appointed, the Board of Education voted to officially make retiring Superintendent Jacqueline Hoynes' successor.
"I want to thank the Board of Education for having faith in me and giving me the opportunity," Miller said. "It's honestly my dream job."
Miller said he and his family had the opportunity to tour some of the schools in the district Monday and they were excited to move to the city.
He added that the district already had a lot of great things going on and he has no intention of becoming a hindrance to them.
"We feel we're blessed," he said. "We're in the place we're meant to be.
Miller will finish this schools year as the superintendent of the Celina Schools District.
He is expected to begin his role as superintendent on August 1 after a transition period with Hoynes, who announced her intention to resign last year.
Miller's entire welcome speech is attached to this story as a video.
