Young touts his experience at the Chamber forum.

The Lake County chambers of commerce, including the Mentor Area Chamber, hosted a forum for the region's state and national legislative candidates last week at LaMalfa Centre.

Both candidates for the Ohio House's 61st district seat -- Republican Ron Young and Democrat Susan McGuinness -- attended the forum.

Both Young and McGuinness were given three minutes to introduce themselves to the voters. Videos of both of their statements are attached to this story.

Young is the representative for the 63rd district. However, due to the redistricting, he now lives and is running for re-election in the 61st.

McGuinness is a registered nurse and the Lake Health Board of Directors chairwoman. Both candidates ran unopposed in the primaries.

The city of Mentor was split in two during the state's recent redistricting. Consequently, just residents of the first, second and third ward of Mentor will vote in this race.
