Waitress Accused of Poisoning Coworker's Coffee

Kaitlin Delaney is accused of putting eye drops in her coworker's drink

A waitress at a Mentor eatery is accused of slipping eye drops into a coworker's coffee and making her sick.

The coworker, who was also the owner's daughter, became sick, vomited and needed to go to Hillcrest Hospital, Mentor Police Sgt. Richard Slovenkay said.

This happened on Aug. 1, Slovenkay said.

Kaitlin Delaney, 22, of Chardon, was charged with contaminating a substance for human consumption and arraigned Friday in . The judge released her on a $250,000 personal bond.

If convicted, Delaney could face between three and 10 years in prison.

Slovenkay said Delaney contaminated the coffee because she didn't like her coworker and that it was "a way of getting back at her boss."
