Video: John Eklund On Ohio's 'Brain Drain'
State Sen. Eklund talks about how the "brain drain" has affected his own family
The Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a Q & A with State Sen. John Eklund Friday morning at Seeker's Coffee House in Mentor.
Members of the chamber asked Eklund (R-Munson Township) questions on topics as varied as local tax collection, school funding and football fandom.
One of the topics Eklund brought up is brain drain -- the immigration of young professionals from Ohio because they cannot find suitable jobs.
Eklund said brain drain has affected both of his children and he wants to see the phenomenon end -- not just because it means the loss of good people but because it splinters families.
