Video: Drummers Play The Big Beat In Mentor

More than 90 drummers gathered Sunday at Lake Catholic High School in an attempt to break a world record.
They were linked via the Internet with other drummers from 14 other cities as part of Big Beat 2011. All the percussionists across the country were playing the same beat simultaneously.
The entire event -- which also included clinics from famous drummers from around the region -- raised money for Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation, a charity that donates musical instruments to young musicians.
The event is organized locally by John Stebal, a Lake Catholic alum and owner of Stebal Drums in Willowick. Nationally, it is organized by the Five-Star Drum Shops Group, a collection of 37 independently owned specialty percussion stores that includes Stebal's.
