Video: Drummers Play The Big Beat In Mentor

More than 90 drummers gathered Sunday at Lake Catholic in an attempt to break a world record

More than 90 drummers gathered Sunday at in an attempt to break a world record.

They were linked via the Internet with other drummers from 14 other cities as part of . All the percussionists across the country were playing the same beat simultaneously.

The entire event -- which also included clinics from famous drummers from around the region -- raised money for Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation, a charity that donates musical instruments to young musicians.

The event is organized locally by John Stebal, a Lake Catholic alum and owner of Stebal Drums in Willowick. Nationally, it is organized by the Five-Star Drum Shops Group, a collection of 37 independently owned specialty percussion stores that includes Stebal's.
