After five consecutive months of decreased unemployment, the rate rose .8 percent in November
After five months of decline, the unemployment rate in Mentor rose .8 percent to 5.4 percent overall in the month of November, according to the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services.
That brings the unemployment rate to very near what it was a year ago in November 2011, which was 5.5 percent.
The unemployment rate also rose in Lake County and the state of Ohio this November.
In Lake County, the unemployment rate increased 1 percent to 6.1 percent.
In Ohio, the percentage increased .2 to 6.5 percent.
The city of Mentor still has the lowest unemployment rate for any city in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more.
However, it now ranks 13th of the 65 cities for which unemployment numbers are calculated. As of October, it had been ranked second -- only lagging behind Dublin.
Mentor's unemployment rate peaked in January and February of 2010 at 8.7 percent.
