Two Chronic Drunken Drivers Sent To Prison

William Dominish and Geoffrey Williams have 15 drunken driving convictions between the two of them

Lake County Judge Eugene Lucci sentenced two chronic drunken drivers to prison Thursday.

William Dominish and Geoffrey Williams -- the defendants -- have 15 prior convictions for drunken driving between the two of them.

Dominish, 60, has nine of those. He was arrested for his latest by Mentor police on August 19.

Dominish crossed over the center line four times while driving near the intersection of Route 44 and Lake Shore Boulevard, Lake County Assistant Prosecutor Charles Cichocki said at the time of Dominish's conviction.

The officer signaled for Dominish to stop but he didn't. Instead, he continued to his home on the 600 block of Lake Shore. Dominish still ignored police when he stopped at his house and began to walk up his driveway. A patrolman ultimately used his Taser to make him stop, Cichocki said.

Lucci sentenced him to 62 months in prison for his most recent drunken driving conviction and an unrelated conviction of receiving stolen property and probation violation. However, Dominish will get credit for the 498 days he has already served in prison.

Meanwhile, Williams will spend 3 1/2 years in prison for his sixth drunken driving conviction.

Geoffrey Williams, 52, of Concord Township, was arrested in February.

According to police, Williams was driving erratically after he left Toth's Place. An officer pulled him over for drifting over the lane line on Jackson Street, Mentor Police Lt. Tom Powers said at the time of Williams's arrest.

The officer who pulled Williams over asked him to do a series of field sobriety tests, which Williams failed, Powers said. Afterward Williams refused to take a Breathalyzer test.

Lucci also fined both Williams and Dominish $1,350 and ordered them to receive drug and alcohol treatment.

He suspended Williams' driver's license for 10 years. Dominish's license was taken for life.
