Trio Arrested After Being Caught With Stolen Jewelry, BB Guns

The items were stolen during a burglary in Madison Township, police said

A trio of people are in Mentor Jail on a charge of receiving stolen property after police found missing jewelry, coins and BB guns in a car that two of them were using March 27.

Mentor Police stopped the car because somebody using the same vehicle had stolen gas both in Mentor and Madison Township, Mentor Police Lt. Tom Powers said.

When police approached the car, they saw the jewelry, coins and other things the officers found suspicious so they confiscated them.

However, between the confiscation and Miller's call, Madison Township Police had already helped identify the coins, jewelry and guns as things that were taken during a burglary in their township.

Consequently, when Miller, along with Walden and Baldwin, came to the police department, officers did not believe his story, Powers said.

All three of them were charged with receiving stolen property and Miller also faces a count of tampering with evidence.

They may face additional charges in the future from Madison Township Police Department.

They were arraigned Wednesday by Judge John Trebets in . Their next court appearance is scheduled for April 12.
