Three Local Teams Advance To District Finals
The Mentor and Lake Catholic girls soccer teams, as well as the Lake Catholic volleyball team, will play in their respective district finals
Several local teams have played their way into their respective district finals:
- The Mentor girls soccer team blanked Eastlake North 5-0 Tuesday.
The top-seeded Cardinals will play against Chardon at 7 p.m. Saturday in the district championship
- Meanwhile, the Lake Catholic volleyball team swept Crestwood 25-8, 25-20, 25-10 to force a matchup with rival Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin in the Div. II final Thursday at Jefferson.
- The Lake Catholic girls soccer team also played their way into their district final with a 2-1 win over West Geauga in double overtime Monday.
The Cougars will face Hathaway Brown this week.
- The Mentor volleyball team fell to Riverside in five sets -- 25-21, 25-20, 21-25, 17-25, 15-11. (For complete coverage of that game, check out The News-Herald's story.)
- Both the Mentor and Lake Catholic boys soccer teams play in district semifinals today. The Cardinals play Cleveland Heights; the Cougars, West Geauga.
- Mentor's Natalie Weaver won the sectional tennis singles championship last week, according to the Mentor Schools site.
