Mentor City Council expected to approve purchase of new plow trucks, generator at tonight's meeting; no decision expected on Plaza Boulevard extension project

Mentor City Council will gather for its regular bimonthly meeting 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Council is expected to approve purchases of three Ford F-350 plow trucks for the city's road department and an emergency generator for Mentor Fire Station Four.

The trucks will cost about $28,000 each and will be bought from Ford Classic Auto. The new trucks will replace two models from 1991 and a third from 1997. The old trucks, which will be auctioned, have an average of 115,000 miles, according to the council's legislation.

The generator will cost about $31,000. Originally, City Council intended to buy one $25,000 generator this year and another in 2012. However, Mentor Fire Chief Richard Harvey said buying this more expensive model would make it so the city would not need a second generator next year.

Finally, City Council still has the legislation on its agenda that will allow them to continue the Plaza Boulevard extension project. However, Mentor City Manager Ken Filipiak said he did not expect Council to vote on that ordinance tonight.

The entire agenda for the meeting is attached to this story as a pdf.

It is great that you are publicizing a "reminder" of Mentor's council meeting. How easily it is to forget the dates.
