A Mentor man is accused of knocking over a security officer at the Super Kmart after he was caught shoplifting.
Johnathan Sulhan, 20, was trying to steal CDs from the story Friday afternoon, Mentor Police Lt. Tom Powers said. He cut the plastic covers from them with a box cutter and hid them in his coat.
A security officer stopped Sulhan as he left the store; but, instead of cooperating, Sulman knocked her over, Powers said.
The guard grabbed onto Sulhan's leg, and he dragged her along the floor until more people came over to stop him.
Sulhan was charged with robbery and possession of a criminal tool. Specifically, the criminal tool is the box cutter.
Mentor Municipal Court Judge John Trebets arraigned Sulhan today. He set his bond at $10,000, which was posted. Sulhan's next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
If convicted of both charges, Sulhan could face between two and nine years in prison.
