The kindergarteners of Sterling Morton Elementary made the short pilgrimage in the snow Friday afternoon to the Mentor Headlands library branch for story time.

"They almost never miss it," Librarian Kim Sidorick said. "They will walk through snow and rain."

The students began making the trip three years ago when Sterling Morton educator Trisha Schock was getting her doctorate in children's literature. She wanted to give the children more exposure to the library so the school and library set up the monthly story time.

Each month, the books have a different theme.

On Friday, Sidorick read books that celebrated the many holidays in February from Valentine's Day to Mardi Gras to President's Day.

Those books included classics like "The Cajun Cornbread Boy" and "The Hungry Little Caterpillar."
