What's cuter than a bunch of adorable children?

A bunch of adorable children grooming and petting ponies.

This scientific certainty was proven during the Party with Ponies program at the Mentor Public Library.

More than 75 people got to meet Thunderhead, Belle and Beckham -- three Shetland ponies provided by Ponyland Pony Parties, a local company run by husband and wife duo Brian and Beth West.

Kids got a chance to brush either Thunderhead or Belle and were also shown how to properly put a saddle on a pony. Beckham, the youngest of the ponies, trotted around the library’s Read House lawn and was available for children to pet.

Noah Heachcox, 9, was very interested in learning more about what it takes to own a pony and had lots of questions for the owners.

“I asked [Beth West] how many animals they have and how much some of them cost. I would like to own a pony someday,” said Heachcox.

From first-time pony observers to long-time equine enthusiasts, everyone in attendance enjoyed the opportunity to experience something they don’t get to do every day.

The ponies were on their best behavior as they were shown lots of love and attention by all the children who participated.
