Mentor Unemployment Rate Dropped In March

Six percent is lower than March 2011's rate but higher than recent low mark

The city of Mentor's unemployment rate dropped from 7.1 percent in February to 6 percent in March.

That is lower than Mentor's unemployment rate in the March of 2011, which was 6.4 percent.

However, it is still higher than the 3-year low of 5.3 percent reached in October and November 2011.

Meanwhile, Mentor still has the third lowest unemployment rate for any community in Ohio with more than 50,000 people living in it.

The unemployment rates for both Lake County and the state of Ohio also dropped in March.

The county's unemployment rate dipped 1.4 percent to 6.7 percent and Ohio's unemployment rate dropped to 7.8 percent.
