Mentor School District Reacts To Chardon School Shooting
District says safety is always its "utmost priority"
The Mentor School District has posted a reaction to the Chardon High shooting on its web site.
Its message reads:
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Chardon Schools community as news of a school shooting is unfolding. All of Mentor Schools building principals and staff members are aware of the reported shootings and are ensuring their safety plans are being followed, as the safety of students is always the district’s utmost priority.
"Every Mentor Schools staff member has immediate access to all district safety procedures through an interoffice website. We believe to ensure the safety of our students and staff, it is best to keep those documents internal only."
Lake Catholic High School has also posted on its Facebook page, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the Chardon High School community today."

A few people have asked me why I'm not covering the Chardon school shooting personally and that's a fair question. Simply put, I'm only equipped to cover what happens in the city of Mentor. That's not to say something doesn't matter to me (or shouldn't matter to you) because it happens outside of the city; but there are other news organizations who are better equipped to cover this tragedy, and it is best left to them. (I included links to four of them in this story.)
That having been said, my thoughts and prayers will be with those affected.
