Mentor Teacher's Legacy Lives
At its meeting tonight, Mentor School Board to Accept More Than $3,000 in Donations from Families and Individuals in Memory of a Popular Mentor Teacher Who Died Last Month
There is no question that the late Kim Coolbaugh made a positive mark on the Mentor School District.
In her obituary, her family requested that donations in Kim's name be made to Mentor's Shore Middle School Science Explorer's Club. Mrs. Coolbaugh, who was a teacher in the Mentor School District for for 14 years, died in November.
At tonight's Mentor School Board meeting, the board will accept more than $3,000 in donations made from nearly 50 families and individuals.
"Kim Coolbaugh will be remembered at Mentor Public Schools for her passion for science and dedication to working with students," the Mentor School District said in a public statement. "Her enthusiasm both inside and outside of the classroom helped inspire hundreds of students to achieve at their greatest potential throughout her career."
Mrs. Coolbaugh began teaching in Mentor at Ridge Middle School in 1997 and moved to Shore Middle School in 2004. In recent years, Mrs. Coolbaugh spearheaded an effort to create a geological time line that spans across the school's hallways.
In other business, the school board is expected to review policy changes in several areas such as student fees and fines, curriculum and instruction, academic prevention and intervention services, curriculum guides and courses of study and other matters.
The school board meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Administration Building, 6451 Center Street.
