Mentor Public Library Hosting Babypalooza This Saturday
Expecting parents (and grandparents) can learn more about what to expect at Babypalooza
Mentor Public Library is hosting Babypalooza -- a special event for expecting parents, as well as families with young children -- from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at its main branch.
The program is designed to help parents and families tie into to local pregnancy, birth, adoption and parenting community resources.
Parents and parents-to-be can speak with health representatives about pre- and post -natal women’s health issues, what to expect in a baby’s first five years of development, childcare, home school, yoga for pregnant women, fire and home safety, midwives, nutrition and just about any other issue facing fathers and mothers of young children.
Brief presentations on these topics and a Tiddlywinks story time will also be held at the program.
"The library is a place you can go for information," said Librarian Amanda Densmore. "So why not take the next step and bring information from the community to the library?
"Parenthood is such an important milestone, but it can also be overwhelming," Densmore continued.
"We wanted to make it easy for expectant parents to find the information they need in order to make their new babies happy and healthy. This is also a great opportunity to bring organizations from all over Lake County together to talk about a big milestone in many people’s lives."
Densmore said she hoped the expecting parents leave Babypalooza having learned about helpful business and community organizations they didn’t know about before.
The organizations involved are the Mentor Fire Department, Awaken Yoga, Dr. Crystal Schneider of Dental Specialists of Lake County, Lake County General Health District, Lake Health, Lake County YMCA, Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, Case Western Reserve University, OSU Extension Service, Starting Point Northeast Ohio, Well Child Clinic, home school organizations, WVIZ Ideastream and, of course, the library.
Ladies and Gentlemen Salon and Spa and Friends of the Mentor Public Library will give away door prizes of a gift basket and baby products, respectively, at the end of the program.
The event, like all of the library's programs, are free. However, people must register to attend.
They can do so online or by calling 440-255-8811 ext. 215.
