Mentor Police are investigating a robbery at the PNC Bank on Mentor Avenue.

Mentor Police have arrested a man who is though to have robbed the PNC Bank on Mentor Avenue earlier this afternoon.

The Mentor man, whose name has not been released yet, was arrested after an officer spotted him driving on Mentor Avenue near the intersection with Cadle Road shortly after the robbery, Mentor Police Lt. Tom Powers said.

The robbery occurred at 1 p.m. today.

A man entered the bank, wearing a black leather hat, striped collared shirt and dark colored pants, according to the Mentor Police Facebook page. He handed the teller a note, demanding money.

The robber never showed a weapon, police said.

The man then fled from the bank on foot.

Nobody was hurt during the robbery.

While the suspect is in custody, Mentor Police are still searching for the money that was taken. Officers did not find it on the man and police were still searching his car when police last released information.

"We're hoping the money is in the car obviously," Powers said.

This is the second bank robbery in Mentor in three months. The first occurred at the Dollar Bank on Mentor Avenue.

The suspect in that robbery is still at large.

Updated: Mentor Police have updated the bank robbery suspect as 46-year-old Stacey Robinson.

Wouldn't that be the second in FOUR DAYS?

Not the second BANK robbery. The other robbery happened at a gas station.

Potato, potato. Implying a robbery isn't as important in one instance as another. This is proof perfect, though, that we need better camera and identification measures in banks to ensure consumer safety.

I'm not implying it's less important. I thought Connie was referring to my statement in the second-to-last paragraph where I mention this was the second bank robbery in three months. Then she asked if it wasn't the second (robbery) in four days. Perhaps I misunderstood her but I did not intend to imply either robbery was less important because of location.

You're correct, Jason. I was in error. So many gas station robberies lately. So much crime, period.

"He handed the teller, demanding money."

He handed the teller what? A note, I assume.
