Mentor Man Accused Of Causing Head-On Crash

Christopher Russo is charged with failure to yield

A Mentor man is accused of causing a 2-car, head-on crash that sent three people to the hospital Sunday evening.

Christopher Russo, 42, was driving east in the left turning lane on Mentor Avenue near the intersection with Heisley Road. Meanwhile, another car was driving in the opposite direction on Mentor Avenue.

While the light at the intersection was yellow, Russo tried to turn onto Heisley and ran into the approaching car, Mentor Police Lt. Dan Molnar said.

The second car had three people -- all adults -- in it. Two of them were taken to Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby and the third was taken to Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights.

None of the three people had life-threatening injuries, Yeropoli said.

Russo was not injured.

Russo has been charged with failing to yield.

I would like to make a comment thanks. I read the article and it sounds to me like this guy did nothing on purpose; I think that is why it is called an accident. I feel bad for this guy too, just saying, God bless.
