A Mentor man is accused of assaulting another man and smashing up his truck.

When police responded to a call for help Monday morning on Butternut Lane, they saw Thomas Restifo Jr. chasing the reported victim down the street, according to the Mentor Police Facebook page.

The man had come to his girlfriend's house earlier that day to pick up his truck.

Restifo, who is related to the girlfriend, confronted the man and assaulted him, according to police.

When the man away, Restifo damaged his truck by breaking out the windows with a tire iron and slashing three tires with a knife.

Police arrested Restifo and charged him with misdemeanor counts of assault and criminal damaging.
