Mentor High Students Big Winners At Benny Awards

Several Mentor students were recognized by the Graphic Arts Council of Cleveland

The Graphic Arts Council of Cleveland recognized eight Mentor High students during its annual Benny Awards.

The Benny Awards are an annual graphic arts contest for high school students where their graphic arts work in the categories of printing and graphic design are judged by area professionals, according to the GAC web site.

This competition is viewed as valuable experience for students interested in pursuing a career in the graphic arts field because it offers their work its first review by local professionals.

Mentor Cardinals dominated the printing competition.

Samantha Huth won first place; Ashley Lyons, second; and Morgan Brunner and Michaila Crislip tied for third.

Rory Glenn, Rachel Plott, Matt Sikon and Aidan Walsh won honorable mentions.

Another Mentor student, Kathleen Flaherty, received an Outstanding Graphic Arts Student Award from GAC.

The award is given each year by the Council to those students selected by their high school advisors and instructors.
