Mentor Dentists Buying Back Candy, Donating To United Way

The bought-back candy will go to troops overseas

Preemptively sick of the candy mountain your kids amassed this Halloween?

Well, you can do some good -- for your kids' teeth, the United Way of Lake County and troops overseas -- by selling the candy back to a pair of Mentor dentists.

From Nov. 5 through 9, several local dentists' offices will pay kids $1 for each pound of candy they give them.

The dentists will, in turn, donate another dollar to the United Way of Lake County for each pound of candy they collect.

The treats will be sent to troops overseas.

The offer is good for up to five pounds of candy. If your kids collected more than five pounds of trick or treating, they'll have to share their overage elsewhere.

The participating offices are: Macy Family Dentistry in Mentor (440-255-8133), Albrecht Family Dentistry in Mentor (440-358-0495), Dental Specialists of Lake County in Mentor (440-266-1740), William D. Nelson, DDS in Concord (440-357-7575), Jeffrey C. Bailey, DDS (440-256-8150), Concord Orthodontics in Concord (440-350-7400) and Willoughby (440-946-4247), Center for Dental Health in Willowick (440-944-0881), Murray J. Berkowitz, DDS in Willoughby (440-946-6373) and Smile Brighter Willoughby Hills (440-975-8444).
