Melt, Audi On Planning Commission's Agenda Tonight

Billy's Martini Bar is also looking to move in Mentor

The Mentor Planning Commission has some big names on its agenda when it meets at 7 p.m. today at City Hall.

For example, Penske Automotive will request a permit to build an Audi dealership at 8599 Market St. and show the Commission its preliminary site plan.

The proposed dealership would be 23,000 square feet and built on a vacant six acres just north of Outback Steakhouse.

The property borders residential neighborhoods on the lot's north and west sides, so the Penske has said it will build a 25-foot landscape buffer on those borders.

As previously reported, Penske is looking to relocate its Willoughby Audi dealership to Market Street, which will bring about 50 jobs to the city.

The city of Mentor sold the property to Penske for $500,000 with the understanding that an Audi dealership will be built there.

Also on the agenda for tonight:

Melt does not intend to physically change the patio, which was built by the previous tenant Jalapeño Loco, according to the permit request.

Melt Owner Matt Fish said he hopes to open the Mentor location in October.

  • The Center Street School village building's newest tenant, Foot & Ankle Specialists of Ohio, will be asking for signage on the historical building.

Foot & Ankle will be on the first floor. Meanwhile, Salon Lofts will be opening up shop soon upstairs.

  • Billy's Martini Bar is looking to change location from its former location at the Comfort Inn to 7338 Industrial Park Boulevard, near the First Merit Bank, Quaker Steak & Lube and DiBella's.

If its conditional use permit is approved, Billy's Martini Bar will share a building with Visiting Physician's Association and Pinnacle Health Care.
