Why to do keep deleting my comments? If the City Manager is too worried about the deer to do his job this is a legitimate issue. Come on Jason do some real reporting for a change. I can get this stuff from the News Herald

I only have deleted one comment you ever made. (However, other editors may have deleted other comments you have made in the past. I don't know for sure.) I deleted the comment because you were talking about the city manager in a story that did not even mention him.

Jason thanks for all of your stories and I know that I may have sounded critical of your stories, that it lacks information at times; however I think you do a great job overall. I would like to make a comment please. I for one am not for killing these deer. I say killing because I do not like the political word culling, the results are the same. I wonder how much it is costing the tax payers to have specialists come in on over-time to kill deer? I guess the price is irrelivent in this case, just like over paying for sport tickets and such, if it fits a personal agenda, like war, heck the sky is the limit right? Keep in mind some people would clasify the deer as almost being a pet. OK with all that said, Why on earth would you want to risk your life and the guilt trip that you may cause when an officer accidentally shoots you? Poor judgement, "Come on Man." I think that we can live with the deer population just fine, what have these deer ever done to you? maybe eat your grass, flowers? They eat my flowers all of the time.Just saying, God bless.

Karl obviously you never hit a deer with your car! When there is that many deer per square mile ITS GOING TO HAPPEN..... They arent killing all of them, just thinning them out. Its something that has to be done. Are you a wanna be PETA activist? PeopleEatingTastyAnimals.....

Karl, the Deer population is to high in Mentor. There are so many they do not allhave enough food, many are skinny and un-healthy. This was needed, I wish the public hunt would have been more lenient. I being a avid outdoors man and hunter understand why these things are being done and that they need to be. You obviously do not. Its grandma and grandpa feeding Bambi corn and apples all day that made them so use to us and dependent. If god did not want us to eat deer and hunt them, he would not have made them out of meet.

Dan why does it have to be done? These animals are not starving, people do feed them, I am one of them that feed them. I get salt from some friends of mine that work at Morton salt, it is funny watching the deer look funny at the clear salt before they realize that it is salt, LOL. People if deer were starving their bones would be showing and they would stop mating to look for food, just saying. I admit I love the animals, they are God's creatures. There are less deer per square acre than there are wilder beast in the Serengeti and they do fine; and no, the population of predators in the Serengeti does not lower the population below the population of deer in square feet as it is in Mentor. I do not think killing (culling) deer in Mentor or anywhere in the U.S.A is necessary. God bless and thank you all for your replies.

All told the City of Mentor will kill over 200 deer within the last six months. Congrats welcome to everywhere! Now if we can just cut down some more trees, like at Bellflower and Center streets and build another building we don't need.

Was this guy trying to interrupt the sharp shooters or was he just out riding in the park?
