Longo Family to Open New Mentor Restaurant

The Italian restaurant is expected to open in November

By year's end, the Longo family will open another eatery in the city.

Joe Longo made the announcement Tuesday at the Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce's monthly luncheon. The new restaurant will be located at 9354 Mentor Ave., in a building that the family ownership recently purchased.

The family already has two Longo's restaurants in Mentor; Whiskey a Go Go bar in Mentor; two Joey's Italian Grill locations in Madison and Chardon; and an areawide catering firm named Cater to You.

"We love being in Mentor," Longo told the crowd. "We've lived here our whole lives. We just love this area."

Longo did not provide many details about the new establishment, but said that it would be a "full-fledged Italian restaurant." He and his sister and co-owner, Tina Greci, are in discussion about what will be on the menu.

The restaurant does not have a name yet.

The family is targeting a November opening. By July, two of the tenants in the building will relocate, while another will close. Renovations will begin at that point.

The restaurant will be 6,000 square feet with a patio.
