Do you know how many drinks you can have before you're in danger of getting a drunken driving violation?

As we head into the holiday season, Patch wants you to know when enough is enough.

When police pull drivers over for suspected drunken driving, officers ask them to perform field sobriety tests and to take a breath test to measure Blood Alcohol Content.

A BAC test measures the percentage of alcohol present in a person's bloodstream. Ohio's legal limit is 0.08.

According to the Virginia Tech Alcohol Abuse Prevention website, every 40 minutes, 0.01 percent of alcohol leaves your system.

The limit for people younger than 21 is 0.02. However, anyone younger than 21 could still be charged with underaged drinking if the blow a 0.01.

Check out the chart in the media portion of this article to see what your limit is. But remember, how you feel also depends on your alcohol tolerance.

If you're looking for a way to enjoy yourself without alcohol this holiday season, check out these nonalcoholic mocktail recipes from local police departments.

It's true that everyone handles alcohol differently. Other factors, including tolerance and one's own metabolism, contribute. This chart is intended more as a primer than a guarantee.

A Merry Christmas to you also, Stig. I want to thank you, as well. You've always been very helpful. (I don't think there has ever been a time that I've known about a snow day before you.)

c'mon guys - don't overdo it - it's better to be safe than sorry - those tickets cost waaaaaaay too much - we invested in a hand held breathalyzer - inexpensive now a days - and can be used as a party game too - but if you have your regular buzz on from your favorite drinks, you could have a good idea when to stop, or at least don't get behind the wheel. one must be the designated driver and one must be the designated drinker - seems to work
