Heisley Road Bridge Lane Closures Postponed To Jan. 16
The closure of Heisley Road over SR 2 to southbound traffic has been postponed as crews complete necessary signalization operations.
Construction on Heisley Road over State Route 2 was scheduled to close Heisley's southbound lanes from Wednesday until October 15.
However, drivers will get a week-long respite.
The lane closure has been postponed to January 16, as crews complete necessary signalization operations, according to the Ohio Department of transportation.
When it begins, ODOT's project will affect drivers on both Heisley Road and State Route 2.
Two lanes of northbound traffic on the Heisley Road bridge will be maintained throughout construction.
However, Heisley Road over Route 2 will be closed to southbound traffic through October. Traffic will be detoured via Route 2's westbound lanes to Center Steet to Route 2 eastbound to Heisley Road during that time.
Additionally, the portion of State Route 2 beneath the Heisley Road bridge will have daily lane closures between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The purpose of the construction project is to replace the bridge's deck, which hasn't been done since the bridge was built in 1961. They will also raise the height of the bridge.
The bridge deck replacement project is expected to cost ODOT about $1.7 million.
