Heat Index Expected To Reach 104 Today

National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory that is in effect until 7 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory today for the region -- a practice that has become increasingly common during this hot, dry summer.

The advisory is in effect from noon until 7 p.m. During that time, the heat index is expected to reach up to 104 F.

The NWS warns that the heat and humidity can put people at risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Meteorologists predict the day will end with thunderstorms that may continue into Friday.

The Lake County Council on Aging and area senior centers have set up places all around the county for seniors to cool out. In Mentor, seniors can go to the Mentor Senior Center.

Furthermore, Mentor Patch has also accumulated some nice ways to cool down on a scorching day such as this.
