Haunted Houses, Howl-O-Ween & Roller Skating: Weekend Planner

It's not too soon to start celebrating Halloween

 

1. HOWL-O-WEEN

Where/When: Mentor Dog Park, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday

Why Go: Dress up your dogs for the fifth annual Howl-O-Ween costume contest.

There will be contests and prizes and tons of dog-themed fun! You can enjoy the treats and wares from pet-friendly themed vendors. The Friends of Mentor Dog Park will be there to answer your questions as well.

Please remember that all dogs must be up to date on their vaccines, they also must be properly licensed. Please do not bring dogs in heat or aggressive dogs. Also, all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Pricing: Free.

2. STUDENT CAREER EXPLORATION EVENT

Where/When: Mentor High School, 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday

Why Go: All Mentor Schools students are invited to Career Exploration: Introducing Students to a World of Opportunities. The event will be in the auxiliary gym. Students will be able to interact with individuals from a variety of careers. Also, there will be drawings for prizes, including an iPad.

Pricing: Free.

3. MENTOR SCHOOLS WEEKEND AT FORSAKEN HAUNTED HOUSE

Where/When: Forsaken Haunted House, Friday through Sunday

Why Go: Why go? Why does anyone go to a haunted zombie apocalypse? To have their wits scared out!

This weekend, Mentor Schools students can save $2 off their ticket by bringing a student ID or wearing their best Cardinal gear

Pricing: $20 for general admission; $30 for a VIP ticket that lets you skip to the head of the line. Save $2 by bringing your Mentor Schools ID.

4. MENTOR PUBLIC LIBRARY BOOK SALE

Where/When: Mentor Public Library - Main Branch, Friday and Saturday

Why Go: The Friends of Library will be selling donated and gently used books. Dig through the stacks for your treasure. You can find an eclectic collection of new releases and classics for prices lower than at any bookstore.

Pricing: It's free to go to the sale. Most books cost $5 or less.

5. HALLOWEEN ROLLER SKATING PARTY

Where/When: Skateland, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 26

Why Go: Where else are you going to see a rollerskating werewolf?

Wear your costume and go to Skateland for fun, games, raffles and prizes.

Pricing: $5 to get in, another $2 for skate rental.
